Functional Botanical Mocktail

The Midnight Magenta Wine-Down

A high-potency evening master batch inspired by red wine ritual, built with tart botanicals, floral notes, and warming spice for a smooth alcohol-free wind-down.

Yield: 750ml (~25 oz)
Steep: 15-20 mins covered
Profile: Tart, complex, warm spice

The Botanical List

  • 3 bags Traditional Medicinals Hibiscus
  • 2 bags TM Stress Ease Calm (Ashwagandha and Honeybush)
  • 1/4 cup Dried loose-leaf lemon balm
  • 1/4 cup Dried loose-leaf passionflower
  • 12 flowers Dried butterfly pea flowers (for pH color-play)
  • 2 whole Ceylon cinnamon bark sticks
  • 750ml Pure filtered boiling water

The Ritual

  1. Assemble: Combine loose herbs, tea bags, cinnamon sticks, and butterfly pea flowers in a large heat-safe vessel.
  2. Infuse: Pour boiling water over all botanicals, making sure loose leaves are submerged.
  3. Trap the steam: Seal immediately with a lid or saucer to retain aromatic oils from lemon balm and passionflower.
  4. Deep steep: Let infuse for 20 minutes until the liquid reaches a rich magenta-violet tone.
  5. Serve or store: Strain well, pour over ice for vivid color shift, or refrigerate in a sealed jar for up to 3 days.

Nervous System Note

Passionflower and lemon balm are often chosen for evening routines to support calm and reduce mental noise. This recipe is designed as a flavorful alcohol-free ritual for end-of-day transition.

The Steep

Temperature and time do the work. Too cool and the botanicals stay closed; too long and the hibiscus turns sharp. Aim for just off the boil and a 20-minute lid-on steep.

  • Water: 750ml, just off the boil (~96°C).
  • Time: 15–20 min, vessel sealed.
  • Serve: over ice for the magenta shift, or chill for 3 days.

On the Palate

First sip reads tart and floral from hibiscus and pea flower. The mid-palate opens to honeybush warmth, and the finish carries cinnamon spice with a clean, dry close — structured like a light red, without the alcohol.
